How to find culprit of slow page load times  Bottom

  • For the past couple of months, my load times have been significantly higher. I've tried removing some modules that I thought were causing the problem, but they're still pretty high (pages time out on a consistent basis).

Is there a way to show what modules/blocks are taking the longest to load? I'd like to speed my site up to our former glory, but finding the anchor that's holding back the boat has been troublesome.
  • Have you the "compilation check" or "force recompilation" enabled in Xanthia or pnRender? if yes, disable it. You can also use the cache for some modules with high traffic...

search in the forum, there are many tips in many threads, and an sticky thread about performance icon_wink

  • Yeah, I've been scouring the tweaks to speed it up, and disabled the compilation and force recompilation.

I also disabled sessions for unregistered users to see if that helped. I might just start taking down blocks one by one to see if that helps.
  • You can also switch of the referers code, if you have not done so alreadyh. See this thread for example.
You can switch on debugging in the config.php and check out which step takes a long time in you pages.

Shutting off the referrer module did help out, thanks! I think from here it might be cache issues. Pages with not a lot of internal links (like a review page) come right up, but my main pageEd page takes a while to load (and pnphpbb2 is painfully slow).

Appreciate the ideas! I'm looking forward to loading up .8...if nothing else to examine all the different components, turn them on one by one and see how they react.

Oh BTW...the site I'm referring to is www.bumscorner.com.

  • Tip: My bestest friend in the whole world Firebug (http://getfirebug.com/) and his pal yslow (http://developer.yahoo.com/yslow/) can help you a lot.
