Blank page after "select installation type" ?  Bottom

  • Hi everyone,

Have been trying to get PostNuke to work for some days now.

Originally downloaded and tried to install the .764 stable release. I got to around 80% of the graphical installer and it seemed to time out? I either threw the message 'could not update pn_blocks' at me, or loaded a blank white screen.

Thinking it might have been a duff file, I removed .764 and attempted to install 0.8. I've setup a new empty database and tried running the graphical installer again. I get to the "select installation type" dropdown box, click next and nothing happens.

The browser looks as if it loads something, but then times out and returns another dreaded Blank Page at me. I've manually gone into my database and the install script has put the tables in there. I have spent hours trawling through these forums and searching the web for potential fixes but I'm really at a loss?

I've installed PostNuke on my hosting server before and it previously hasn't been an issue?

I am by no means very technical when it comes to errors and editing files etc. Some of the support posts on here are very detailed and I'm very confused as to what I need try and do?

Here's some info you might need:

    MySQL Version- 5.0.45
    Perl Version- 5.8.8
    PHP Version- 4.4.7
    CGI- Active

I've bought some space off dot5hosting.com so the server is not my own.

I don't think the server is liking the .HTACCESS files? I've tried renaming them to php.ini but it still isn't working.

Sadly, I have no idea how or where to access my error logs. As soon as I find out, I'll update my post to try and give you a little more insight into the errors!

    Any ideas at all?

    Thanks in advance. icon_confused
  • If you think the .htaccess is the issue, remove it all together and try.

  • Thanks for your reply.

I have removed all .htaccess files and the php.ini files I tried using.
I re-uploaded the new config files and am still having the same issue?
  • How much memory is allocated to PHP scripts, and what is the maximum execution time on your server?

  • @maxdesign:
Please, check your php_memory_limit configuration, and the max_execution_time in your php.ini.

I recommend you to truncate the database and try again, choosing the 'Basic installation', after install the core you'll be able to install the ValueAddons that you need.

    Good luck
and welcome to the PostNuke Community Forums icon_wink
