  Hi,
  the lightbox2 script has been recently updated to version 2.04 (download link). Support for the latest prototype (that is already in RC3) and some bugfixes. Don't forget to include it in 0.8Final/Newname1.0
  
  It might be a good idea to include some other script options as well.
  
  - Based on jQuery: thickbox. Supports lightbox like popups with other content as photos as well. JQuery is needed then as well. Inclusion of jquery gives a whole lot of opportunities as well. Lots of plugins available for jquery.
  
  - Highslide JS, I saw usage in MediaAttach examples as well. Highly configurable and support for other content as well, including Flash by means of SWFObject. Internationalization more easy by means of settable parameters (prev, next, loading, etc).

  The core is already quite big - and adding some new scripts would break the feature freeze.
  It is planned to reevaluate the JS/Ajax libraries *after* the final release completely (Frank can tell you more on this probably).
  Perhaps this can be handled by a workgroup consisting of several interested people in this area.

  That is a good idea. It would provide module developers with a rich set of ready made scripts, instead of having to add them seperately per module.
  What are features that people need and how to provide them on a framework level?
  
  Just some ideas:
  image zoom in like lightbox
  easy flash embedding
  image galleries
  image slideshows
  tab navigation
  
  Upgrading lightbox to the latest version is off course still wise to do

  I'll update lightbox when I get a few minutes since it's only a relative small bugfix release.
  
  On a side note of Ajax review i've done a little work with jQuery recently and have to say that i've been extremely impressed.

  JQuery has a lot of very nice scripts being developed for it. The list of plugins at the website is nicely organized and very big. A lot of great image galleries can be found there.
  
  Maybe a split off topic would be a better idea, but another great addition to the prototype/ scrip.acula.us scripts is lightview. A lot like lightbox, but also able to hold other content and has a built in simple slideshow as well. Nice.
  
  For those interested to learn more about jquery see te jquery.com site off course, but also at jqueryfordesigners.com a lot of nice tutorials and info is gathered.
