Error 500 on upgrade.php  Bottom

  • Well,

I am hoping to test RC3 from a 764 install. I was pleased to see in the upgrade.html readme it doesn't require changing theme back to the base etc.

    1. so i went ahead took my backups after confirming pre-req modules are activated.
    2. restore to my test server
    3. change config.php to reflect the DB location encoded username/password etc.
    4. went ahead and ran upgrade.php

i get a white/blank screen and when i check my httpd logs an Error 500 is registered.

any ideas what might be going wrong?

    Thanks

    supa

  • If you are running PHP as CGI you have to move

    Code

    php_flag register_globals off
    php_flag magic_quotes_gpc off

from .htaccess to php.ini (create it in the same directory)

  • PHP not running as CGI. sorry.

just trying to also figure out if *anyone* else is experiencing this issue. the only thing i can see is that i did not change my theme back to a regular base (default) PN theme prior to Backing Up DB.

    Thanks

  • there is no need to change your theme in the upgrade process.

    what a gwaan supa.

remove those two lines from htaccess. worked for me.

  • I am experiencing the same issues when upgrading fro a .764 install.

I have removed those lines from .htaccess and removed them from php.ini. I have also tried them in both as well. no dice.
  • ok, finally verified that the .htaccess was actually getting updated when I removed those lines. I was able to see the upgrade.php page and selected my languague and click the button to begin the upgrade. It seemed to process for about ten seconds then displayed another Interal Server Error page.

    ugh..
  • you are using the default .htaccess?

  • I gave up and installed a fresh version. I have many many other .764 sites to test with but have to move forward on this particular site. The upgrade not working was extremely frustrating.
  • Hi,

My issue is "user-related". There was some errors when uploading the RC3 contents and some files were missing. My bad.

I did noticed i had to refresh several times before getting to the module upgrades. It appears this is due to DB size (approx. 11MB) with about 6000 users.

Reviews module failed to upgrade with the upgrade.php, but was ok post-upgrade via the Modules module.

Thanks guys. I guess work needs to be done to keep a status page constantly refreshed as part of the upgrade so users don't get the dreaded white screen and panic.

    Thanks

    supa
