For SEO purposes, duplicate content is penalized. A module with content indexed in the past using name= that now uses module= internally (but incoming links to name= still retrieve the same content) creates a duplicate content issue.

Other than mod_rewrite, within PostNuke itself, where would be the best place to look at manipulating the behavior of redirecting to new style URL's if an old style URL is presented to PostNuke?

No way.. old style URLs make it so I can support those who break their themes and what have you...

    nothing like index.php?name=ModuleSchmodule&view=edit&theme=ExtraLite
