Hey all.. Starting up a new site today.. Wondering which route I should go. Can't seem to find much info on what's newer/better in .8, and I know(am familiar with 764).. Advice? -

The answer is clear...
.764 is the most recent stable release version..
.8 RC-2 is the most recent up to date testing version which should not be used on a live productive website.
Good luck!

If you intend to work on the site for some time before you publish it, you might start with .8RC2, update as soon as the final is available and then publish the site.

On this forum you can find several promisses that this will be done long time ago.
That's simply not true. The team involved in preparing pn8 have been extremely careful NOT to promise anything about a release date.

I have started a new site recently and I had the same doubt. I chosed the 0.8 RC2. In my opinion, it is much better than 0.764. -

What is not true? Maybe it's better to run Search functionality first. Or maybe start to delete some old posts. Because you are right" they never signed anything, but they built expectations. The same as Steffen/kaffeeringe.de is doing in the post above.
Just as an example just one sentence from HammerHead's post from 16 August 2006 - yes almost 1,5 years ago!:
HammerHead
We'd all like to see PostNuke .8 final either released or close to it by the end of the year. However, there are no guarantees of this, as has been said many times before.
This is just an example of one topic, which was started by me (http://community.pos…c-49980-start-0.htm), but I remember much more never fulfilled promises.
We are really true fans of PostNuke and it is really a pitty to see how the project is dying because of poor project management. This has much less important that the product will be better or worst. Most of people stopped waiting and changed the system.
So, why you are cheating exitRooster again the same way? Maybe this person has to run his/her site in few months when - most probably - you will not deliver even RC3? Maybe it is right to say: better take another CMS. PostNuke 0.8 will be ready, when will be ready. Maybe in some years. For time beeing the only thing, which we can quarantee is 0.74.
