Can I use PostNuke for this?  Bottom

  • I would like to make a site that is basically links to other sites. There would be categories and links to sites in each category. Can PostNuke be used to manage a site like this? I'm looking to make a resource site. I want a script that would make it easy to manage the links.

If PostNuke can do this... Would it be difficult to do?
  • Welcome to Postnuke ;)

Postnuke comes with a basic module for managing links. So your link database can be easily created with Postnuke. (See example on this site here: http://community.postnuke.com/Web_Links.htm )

If you want more flexibility in managing your data you should try some additional modules like Pagesetter, where you have much more possibilities. But that module is not so easy - perhaps someone here has created something like a link database and can help with templates and so on ...

I like the way the link output looks and feels. Would it be possible to make a site without the links on the left? I guess I should try it before asking so many questions. But, I don't have a host right now. I'm trying to figure out if this script is what I want to use before I try to find a cheap host.
  • You should download a web server like xampp or Apache2Triad so you can try PostNuke on your home computer. This comes with a PHP and MySQL environments that you can do testing in.

I would highly suggest this even if you find a host so you can test any changes offline before committing them online so you don't break your on-line site.
