Hi there.
I want to set up a new site and use 0.8 end of this year, early next year.
I was just wondering how long till RC2?
Another thing is I want to use Multisites and I see Multisites is scheduled for 0.81. Is there anything I can do to help with Multisites?
Thanks.

There is no eta for RC2 as such, but there are only 2 release blocking bugs in the bug tracker relating to upgrading sites with large numbers of users. When these are dealt with RC2 can be released.

Yes, you can adopt the code and manage it yourself ;) We are looking for developers to adopt the ValueAddons and this is one of them.
However, before working on the Multisites module, you should coordinate with Mark, as there are reasons why it has not been finished for .8 which are not solely related to development time available. When he gets back from holiday, Mark can tell you what needs to be done to get Multisites ready.

Where can we find the list of the orphaned modules?

Everything within the "modules/" directory except the blank module is supposed to become adapted by extension developers.

Is there an overview of the modules that are already adapted and which ones are still open?

None of the modules remaining in the main PostNuke SVN have been adopted. They are however, all .8 ready, though in most cases there is little to no new functionality over the .7x versions.

Is there any news on RC2 and $NewName? What is holding back the rollout of $NewName ?

Not trying to hijack this thread, but:
Is it just me, or does everyone have a problem accessing anything on the NOC. All I get 90% of the time is: "MyGforge Could Not Connect to Database:"
I can access the NOC about 1 in 30 times, so for the most part I just say screw it. Sometimes I wonder if not being able to download modules from the NOC, and having ads for Joomla at the bottom of the page aren't a big part of the reason that I can now check these forums about once a month to stay up on PostNuke, when a few years ago I could spend all day on here reading new posts.

NOC has had problems, as noted in the announcements and news (click HOME at the top of this page to view community news).
These forums were pretty busy a few weeks ago, and have had peaks off and on in the last several months.
Right now, it seems NOC and SVN problems are halting a lot of discourse, but it is being worked on as dev team has said a few things about it.

Hi,
I would like to know if you're planning on changing, adding or removing tables from the database in the next Release Candidate before the final version is ready ?
I want to upgrade my site to PN 0.8 but if you change the database, it will be difficult to upgrade from an RC to the final version. On the contrary, if you only correct mistakes or add options that are only related to files, it will be easier for me to upgrade from an RC to the final version.
Thanks a lot for your good work ! -

The database structure will not change, however what we put into the database might (for example with categories)

hello,
i have tested RC1.
can someone put SVN tarball for download?
is news article/page image support planed?
I mean like in PageED module you can add image to publication, show/notshow topic's image, can place image left or right side.

The News module is more or less a twin of the .7 version with .8 code under the hood. And it's free for adoption as it won't be part of the core anymore. It's only in the upgrade pack for .764 webmasters. So if you like to implement the image handling, the module is all yours.
