Hi,
I have developed a new module and like to put a link in main menu. However I could not find a way in user administration page to accomplish that. Do I had to modify the source code of that block for that?

You have not...
You have to go to Blocks Admin panel and "Edit" it...
you'll have the options to add/delete the links
