No 'comments' in News?  Bottom

  • I ran a test upgrade from 0.764 to 0.8-RC1. Seems to have problems if you've used a different table prefix, as well as one column name seemed to be wrong.

    But anyway, the real question here is where has the ability gone to comment on News items? The site I currently have has a couple of thousand comments to new items, but in 0.8-RC1 there is both 1) no way to view these comments, and 2) no way to post any new ones.

    Am I missing something somewhere? I downloaded and upgraded from the FULL package...
  • I think this is still under development because the comments is a thing to improve a lot.
    May be the devs take EZComments like an option to the 0.7x to 0.8 upgrade, and take all the news and polls comments in the 0.7x inside of EZComments in 0.8...

    Upgrade process is in testing,
    i have problems with the news categories too, because for each category that i have in 0.7, in 0.8 i have a this categories, but each one with a buggy 'Linux' and 'PostNuke' subcat...
    i'm thinking how to have multiple cats in my news...

    let's report this and wait a little to test an improved upgrade script...

  • The comments module has been replaced with EZComments.

    The linux and postnuke categories are probably imported from the .7x topics module.

  • The Topics are different, the Linux and Postnuke Topics doesn't exist in my pn07...
    this default values must be reviewed, because there's no reason for me that the Topics be sub-cats of the New's categories...
    @ Mark:
    Is possible that in the admin-interface to Categories Module (You say something like a MultiHook popup) the webmaster can assign many categories to the News?
    In 0.7x are two 'classifications' (Topics, Category), and in 0.8 is only category by now, but i think that will be great if an Article can have many categorizations (2 or 3...)

    Now, i have to choose one in the tree:
    + Categories root
    ++ News
    +++ MyCategory1
    +++ MyCategory2

    ... only one of MyCategories, but what if i can select only one of many trees:
    + Categories root
    ++ News
    +++ NewsTree1
    ++++ MyCat
    ++++ MyCat
    ++++ MyCat
    +++ NewsTree2
    ++++ MyCat
    ++++ MyCat
    ++++ MyCat
    Now i have two 'classifications' like in 0.7...
    any solution to this is possible in 0.8??
