When creating a new category ... what do all the fields mean?  Bottom

  • I'd like to have a module make some additions to the category tree (under the module's name) for categorizing the module's items.

Following the Quotes module, I successfully added a custom module's entry to the Category tree...but that's about it. I'm not really sure what all the fields mean on the Category editing pages...is there a doc that tells what all the fields are for?

Ideally, I'd like to create the base entry for the module in the Category tree (a la Quotes) and populate that with 2 or 3 sub-categories to start with; all this would occur at module installation, so that when a user went to create their first item after install, they would not have to first setup any categories to make it work.

Also following the Quotes module, there's no call to delete Categories at the time a module is deleted. Is it safe to assume that this is because when a module is deleted, it might have content elsewhere in the site relying on that category?

Thanks for any insights into this confusing aspect of module development.

( I'm dying to know too. Hell, I would like to know where we replicate the old Topic Image for News articles from Phoenix? )
