porting PN to use MS Access?  Bottom

  • my host only allows MS access dbs ... anyone know how close postnuke is to adding an MS access port? if not i'd like to volunteer to do it myself, with anyone's help of course.

im poking through the code now - it's a great piece of software!

  • There are no plans to port PN to MS Access soon. If you want to start working on that it would be great.
  • since we rely on the adodb database abstraction layer you should check http://php.weblogs.com/adodb_manual#coding for further informations.

  • DIE DIE DIE ACCESS as a web-enabled database. :P
  • I seem to remember someone was working on ODBC support. This would open the way to using MS Access. Can't remember where it was said though.
  • adodb which PN uses should provide access to odbc and such database types the installer and config loader however aren't compatible with it at this time.
  • I understand that the config loader and installer don't support odbc connections..

In terms of an install I could always setup the database manually.. but how do I get around the config loader? Has anyone ever attempted using ODBC (with Access or MSSQL behind the scenes) as the DB for postnuke?

    Thanks
  • [Off topic] I don't think it's a good choice to use MS access. It'll be slow, wired or even freezed.
SQL Server 2000 will be better. wink
  • I'd be okay with SQL Server.. but how??
