When do you plan on removing all of the "popularity" code in Postnuke (i.e. for files, weblinks, etc.) and replacing it with actual functionality? For instance, instead of 19 settings concerning how popular a weblink is, who can vote on it's popularity, or whether it has a date for the prom -- how about a simple option to specify whether the link should open in a new window? Here's another one: Specifying whether the users real name is required at signup.
I continually see people questioning these things, yet they remain elusive.

Those (type of) modules are Value Addons. AFAIK, the development and maintenance of all such Value Addon modules will be up to 3rd party volunteers, rather than core devs. This seems logical since it would allow core devs to focus on core code.
As far as when the changes will be made... I suspect the job is open, if you're interested. ;)
