I know some of you like really configurable permissions on a user basis - but wouldn't it be much more time effective from an admin point of view if I could look at the module on the admin page and select which group I wanted to be able to use it from a drop down list?
1. The user based permissions have been removed from .8 in favour of the purely groups based permissions.
2. Postnuke and all modules are configured for unregistered/users/admins - for many pages this is sufficient. And often it is not too complicated to add another group and give them special permissions.
3. PostNuke's permissions system is really really flexible and one of the strengths of the system. You can implement a fine grain set of group permissions - you only need to learn a little bit.
4. It is so flexible that you can even use it inside the templates and simply use permissions that are contained in no module.
Maybe it could be possible to add a "simple mode" - but if it is only three dropdowns: Group, Module, Mode (Admin, Read...) I am afraid that you also wouldn't be too happy with it.
Please keep in mind that you normally only once set permissions on a site. You rarely adjust them every day.
