No one claims that PostNuke is the easiest thing to manage. PostNuke doesn't really do anything too impressive out of the box. It is not an instant CMS. As stated, it is a framework. I feel, when I work with PostNuke to create a site, I am developing the site. I don't have to have a cookie-cutter website. With PostNuke, I am always finding, I can do something new. When I work with PostNuke, I find I have my text editor open more than my web browser. The magic of PostNuke really comes to life when you take it out of the box, open it up, look in side, and make something new out of it. It does take time, it does take learning, it does pay off. I never expect to set up a site in 10 minutes with PostNuke. I could, but that is not who I want it. It takes days or weeks before I am happy with a project.

  • While PostNuke definitely is a "Web Application Framework", it always was and is even more today also usable as a Joomla-like "dynamic portal engine and content management system" - but an extendable and extreemly flexible one. We might not look so sexy out of the box (this will change with 0.8 however, just have a peak here - thanks to Mark), but a simple Postnuke site can transform in almost everything and grow with clients' ideas.

The new even more modular approach with a tiny, but powerful core is already boosting 3rd-party module development. We have seen several fine new modules those hot summer weeks ....

Slowing third party devs in their development and tieing end-user features to reaching a certain version number is not a good idea

There's nothing to stop module devs from writing pnAPI compliant modules that work nicely with pn.8. My RosterMaster module is a pn.76+ module and works as expected in pn8. The thing is, and I wholy admit this has hurt PostNuke a bit, is that they don't want to write base pnAPI modules when they can do so much more with so much less using the pn8 codebase. The next RosterMaster will not work with less than pn.8 simply because I can code a better module with less effort this way.

And therein, I think, lies the substance of pn.8 as compared to pn.7 as far as numbers go.

Hey all just wanted to invite you to my new site now using Joomla. For those of you who read this thread from the start you will see i have been talking about it for a while. Humming and hawing on weather to switch

Still like postnuke but it really just doesnt compare in ease of use like Joomla does. I have kept a postnuke news section as I still love good ol PN.

    Enjoy
    Thx

Sorry to resurrect this thread (I was researching Joomla), but take a look at his super important site now.
