Help: Module Administration not available :-(  Bottom

  • Hi, I'm in big trouble again! After unpacking a new module (pnConnections.zip)in my root folder, i had the folder pnConnections correctly inside the modules folder. So far so good. When i went to the website kohtao-community.comand regenerated the modules all went off. totally. Whenever i want to accsess the admin panel i'm presentetd with this message

    Quote

    Module Administration not available

That has happened several times before and i had to build up the whole website again. Firefox gives a message when i try to access the administration, "The adress is redirected in a way that the search never can be ended" (free translation). maybe that helps?

From the main menu i also get redirected to that page:
    http://kohtao-community.com/admin.php?name=Administration
    instead of:
    http://kohtao-community.com/index.php?module=Administration&type=admin&func=adminpanel

The effect on the website is that it does not show the banners nor the admin messages, all the rest seems to work fine.

I have to admit that i was stupid enough not to make a backup before installing the new module...baehhh (banging my head aginst the wall) icon_mad

So if anybody has an idea how to fix this i would be very very happy. I do have a backup but it is several month old. I already tried to exchange the admin folder in modules with the old one but no change.

The theme of the website is: PNForumTheme3 Could it maybe that there is a bug? I have installed modules a hundert times before on several other PN websites and never had that problem. But this one drives me crazy. And it's probono - charity work.

    Please Help.....
    Thanx
    George

  • Sounds like you turned your Administration module off. If you are phpMyAdmin save just hop into the modules table and turn that one on. If the site is unused still just re-install.
  • Thanx for the fast response

The point is the site is fully in use. Aehm...phpmyadmin save...no i would not say so. Can you explain wich file that would be to open in phpMyAdmin? Or do i get that completly wrong now?
  • OK - I think i found what you ment. pn_admin_capable was set to "0" miracoulosly?? The bad part is it did not help setting it to "1" (i compared the settings to one of my other sites)
No change whatsoever. Still no acsess from direct address and the strange redirect from the main menu.

Any other idea? And how can these settings change by regenerating the modules?
  • probably pn_modules

    try turning on

    pn_name Admin
    pn_displayname Administration
  • Thanx for looking into it again. Did that. no change. I found something strange though; pn_directory has some modules starting with NS- like NS-Admin, NS-User, NS-Groups, NS-AdminMessages, NS-AddStory, NS-Banners, NS-LostPassword, NS-Polls, NS-Past_Nuke, NS-Languages. As far as i know, those NS- Folders where created after installing the Thai language pack.

Removing the NS- from AdminMessages in pn_directory stopped the error message, "Block not found", so i figured to remove all of the NS- would solve the problem. But it didn't. Still the same, i can not get to the administration and my banners and the admin messages are still missing. everything else still works.

Since i can not accsess pn_render, i cannot empty the cache, so i still have a little hope that it will change after an hour. (cache settings = 3600) But very little.

What is pn_state for? In one (working) PostNuke Site i have "3" by Admin in the damaged one is pn_state "5".

It's twenty past five in the morning and i'm out of ideas. icon_confused

    Thanx again for your help

News: No changes whatsoever. I'm still stuck. Please somebody, anybody....help.

  • the NS-s's are definitely pre-0.76x . Now istead of NS-USer NS Admin its just User Admin, something like that, so that language pack messed that up if it made the NS's appear. Should be able to clear the cache through FTP or database .
  • The NS folders have actually only the thai language pack inside. (would it be a good idea to move the thai language folders from the NS folders into the normal module folders and delete the NS Folders completly? I didn't wanna do so without advice)

When i regenereated the modules some entries changed to the NS- folders in pn_directories. After editing each entry and removing the NS- it is all still the same. The cache must long have emptied by it self. And i couldn't find a way to empty it either through FTP or database. But i still can not get into the admin.

Grrr... I still don't get it why there was no change after editing the NS in pn_directories. Did i forget something?

  • Am i really the only one EVER that had that problem? And NOBODY can help?
