Streaming Media Module  Bottom

  • I am looking for a module or block that allows for streaming media on a PostNuke site. I am planning on setting up a radio station and want to broadcast directly from the site. Is there such a feature for PostNuke that allows for this. I would like for it to be able to connect to my broadcast server
  • I think the best solution right now might be Jinzora. I'm just looking into similar solutions so I really have no idea.

This seems to be one area Postnuke may be falling behind the times, multimedia-wise, can anybody recommend some multi-media (music/video) friendly modules please ?
  • Have you tried the pnInternetRadio mod? I have it working on my site no problems. If you can't find the download, I still have the .zip on my computer.
As a side note, it will only open up in a block. You can listen to the radio station as long as you don't change pages.
I know this is a bit later than the post, but I just ran across it. If there is anything that is better, that can be used with .764, what did you find?
Another option that I just found last night - http://www.justin.tv allows you to set up an account and you can use that to stream live audio/video. You can get some HTML code to add to your website - at the moment, I'm using the htmlpages mod to show it on my site. I'm going to try to use an HTML block to show it, just haven't done that yet - I'll post if it does or doesn't work.

This could not have been better said.

I know we are dealing with open source stuff here so we should be happy with what we get. However, I would like to download and install a module once and have it work without having to hack some code or write a custom plugin. The last module I loaded that went perfect was PhotoGallery. I was so happy with the smooth install that I immediately went to the developers site to make a donation.

  • Here's a list of all multimedia modules i found on my hd:
    Jinzora 2.7.5 (http://www.jinzora.com)
    PNInternetRadioV1.1.1 & PNInternetTV_1.1 (http://www.kyantonius.com)
    pnNetjuke20 (http://www.nuy.info)
    PostRardio (http://www.postnuke.it)
    zina-1.0rc3 (http://www.pancake.org/zina)
    zMP3reev06 (http://noc.postnuke.com/projects/zmp3ree/)
mp3playerblock (http://www.to.ma) ---- can't find the block on the page now
pnEasyPlayer-1.0 (http://www.tefiton.com) ---- page seems to be offline

Please send me a PM if you are interested in mp3playerblock or pnEasyPlayer.
  • Isn't that pretty simple? You need a flash mp3 player and a template and the streaming media URL. Example: http://www.pagesetter.net/index.php?module=Pagesetter&func=viewpub&tid=4&pid=61 - That is a local mp3 file but IIRC that player is also able to play streaming mp3. You don't have to use Pagesetter if you don't need it in another way. If you just need a block with a player, I'd recommend the pnRender block, which includes every template you name.
