Why all modules templates isn't with a .tpl extention ? For me a .tpl is for template and a .htm is for a static HTML page. Moreover, the opening file is easyless (.tpl => a notepad program, .htm => a navigator).
what do you think about it?

Because, WYSIWYG editors often have problems with the .tpl extension, because the Templates are HTML files, and that just makes sense to most people. Really, when it boils down to it, it's just a matter of semantics, and doesn't matter a bit.

Plus, depending on how your webserver is configured, if you use a .tpl extension, people can download your templates and spot any potential security issues / problems present in them.

For me, i open by default a .tpl file with my editor and the .htm with FF, with a menu an editor... when the templates can't open with ff, I think that all templates files can have an tpl extension.
Good day !

.htm templates can be downloaded too. http://community.postnuke.com/themes/PNdotcom100/templates/master.htm and do view source, and save the page. The only thing is that .htm is not being send as a downloadable file. But but files are downloadable. So for security is doesn't mean if you're using .htm .tpl, or .whatever -

Doh, knew I should have had more coffee that morning. Ignore what I said. There was a reason for the extension though...
