Are you using the legacy ExtraLite or the Xanthia ExtraLite?
Dont mess with the legacy one, get the xte one.
Anyway do a little search on themes not updating, there are several dozen results at least.

I have tried both.. But I have actually still not solved it:/
Ive not seen anyone who has posted this question (which means that I must be the most stupid here), but anyway, I dont know why my themes dont get updated when I change them.
Is there some cache or something that saves it from the first time and never reloads?
Would appriciate any answer, thank you -

You might check the documentation:
http://community.pos…aCompilSettings.htm
And a search would show this discussed frequently.

Both pnRender and Xanthia cache rendered templates.
For pnRender - go to the admin->
*Checkmark both:
Code
Compile check
Force compilation
*Uncheckmark:
Code
Enable caching
*Click both:
Code
*Delete compiled templates
*Delete cached pages
For Xanthia:
Go to Admin --- > Xanthia --> Configure Xanthia
*Check both:
Code
*Check for updated version of templates
*Force templates recompilation

Perhaps we are talking at cross purposes.
What, exactly, are you trying to change by editing style.css in themes/extralite/styles/style.css ?
And I really DO hope you have a back-up copy of extralite, because that is the default go-to theme for upgrades and when things go bump in the night. It would NOT be a good idea to tamper with it unless you have saved a pristine copy you can pop back in place....

Yes, hopefully you are using the XTE version of ExtraLite and not the legacy version shipped with the PN install.
But following the directions mentioned above should enable you to change your theme on the fly. Check your settings again.
Also be sure you are editing the XTE version, and that is the version you are reviewing for changes.

Hmm.. When I copied it and renamed it, then loaded it, I was able to edit it!
Thank you very much!
EDIT:
Think I no what caused the problem, would like to know how to solve it. When I use the Xanthia edit thing, threw the control panel, and edit a color there, I will not be able to edit from the .css anymore. Even though I delete the cached pages and the compiled templates, I can't edit anymore.
Another edit:
The reason why I wanna change with the Xanthia edit is that I can't find all the edits without finding them there. Where are they stored?
