0.763: Installation Problem - Admin Messages not initialised

I've tried installing a fresh install of .763 three times now. I have also downloaded a fresh copy of the install, erased everything on my server, including databases to insure I had a clean slate and reinstalled the new files and re-ran the install script. Everthing goes fine until I get this message:

I tried this and it did not work for me either.
My host is currently running MySQL version 3.23.58.
What else could be causing this issue?

I am not running MySql 5 on my server either. Any other issues - others seem to be installing this just fine - nothing has changed except an upgrade to the phpMyAdmin, from 2.63 to 2.70 versions. Everything else for me is the same as when I installed (successfully) PN .762.

I'm now officially frustrated. I have all the requirements for PN and have downloaded three separate downloads of PN .763. I've uploaded and deleted, started over, I have the correct versions of MySQL and phpMyAdmin and yet when I try to run the install script, I get to the point as shown in my first post. I'm so baffled that I've been able to install .762 fine, but .763 keeps blowing up!

mySQL version 4.0.1.6
phpMyAdmin 2.7.0
PHP 4.1.1
I checked with my webhost provider, they do offer mySQL version 5.0, but I'd have to move my entire site to a new server - what a pain! Is it worth it to have version 5.0 in anyone's opinion?

I am getting the same message. I am just trying to install it on the local drive before I upgrade the website. Truly, PostNuke leads to so much trouble and guesswork that I am thinking of switching to some other CMS. Mumbo?

mysql was 4.0.17-Nt (I reliase I would need at least 4.1, when I glanced through what I had, it seemed like 4.1+, it isn't....I am in the process of installing mysql 5.0 now). I hope that takes me a bit further..

I remember a discussion about this months ago, though i cannot find it at the moment.
It has to do, IIRC, with the timing of when that block checks for logged/registered users.
I wonder if the behavior changes if you move that block to a right block?
At any rate, I believe it is a known issue.
