Well as I stated in the first post, not everyone has access to it. The tutorial still will work for you, you'll just have to upload the files themselves instead of a tar file. A bit more time consuming, but many still do it.

I was wondering if I could post these upgrade instructions in my forum on my site?

I was happy just to learn about SSH for uploading & unpacking .tar files! But when I asked my ISP to enable my SSH, he also recommended using PUTTY. Will it not work without the PUTTY? ...and as "Researcher" asked above, How does your explanation of SSH differ for this utility? Do I follow the same steps? Also, does it work for .zip files too, or just .tar?? Thanks
KWard
Thanks

Putty is a free client program that lets you use the SSH service.
Servers have server programs to provide different services, such as ProFTPD for FTP, Sendmail or Qmail for e-mail, and Open SSH for SSH.
Users have client software that enables them to utilize these services. they include WsFTP and CuteFTP for FTP, PocoMail, Eudiora and a slew of other programs for e-mail, as well as Putty and Secure CRT for SSH connections. -

yes putty will work fine if SSH is enabled on your account. Pretty much the same deal to use it, you'll have to check it out and compare the details posted at the beginning of this thread of course but yes it will work fine. I have used putty myself without problems.
And yes it does work with zip files as well.
If you're interested in reading more, do some googling for "SSH commands" :)
