I purchased a Xanthia theme about six months ago. However, according to people in the know there are numerous problems with the theme. They all seem to be simple fixes, I just don't know what to fix or I would do it myself. I have tried to find someone who would be interest, for a fee, to go through the theme and make it 100% PostNuke Xanthia compatible.
I have considered just dumping the theme but the group that it belongs to really likes it.
Is anyone interested?
Here is the web site: http://www.iccidaho.org
Thanks,
Joe

Well, since I'm not gonna case-study your complete website, and the site didn't show any errors while giving it a few seconds of my time, you might want to explain the problems.
If you know there are errors/problems, would be much of a help for people who want to help you out, by saying what the issues are. -

This isn't the table versus CSS thing is it?

What do you mean with "100% Xanthisa compatible"?

HTML Tidy (using the Firefox extension) shows 138 warnings on index.php, the validator at w3.org shows 68 errors so there is something to do with the theme, but this is not as hard to do as it sounds.
The tables used are another thing. Replacing them with a CSS-driven layout is much more complicated.
Then the CSS itself needs some updates too.

First I've heard of it and its my theme. I'm not sure who Joe asked for help, but it wasn't us -- just for the record. Just to preview the site, I can't see anything wrong with it -- other than the mismatched backgrounds on the blocks (which was apparently changed by the end-user). -

Don't know what you're looking at Warrick, I see the same 138 warnings in HTMLTidy as Landseer. First one on my list is a background property for a TD.

Warrick,
I have asked you for help several times. However, I understand that you are not a fan of Xanthia and could not help me.
I didn't mention you or your web site as you have always done well by me in the past, I just need to get this theme fixed.
As far as the mismatched backgrounds go, that is one of the things I asked you about, you said it might be hard coded or that it might be in the CSS but couldn't help me past that. I was able to change part of the block but not all of it. I can change the color back but at this point I just want a working theme that does not contain the errors and makes Xanthia and PostNuke happy.
I would have offered to have you fix it in the first place but you have made it very clear to me that Xanthia is not your favorite theme system - period. So I figured I would find someone who lives and breathes it so I can get things sqaured away. No offense intended to you, Warrick.

Well I don't remember ever failing to respond to an email from you Joe. I don't believe I ever said I wasn't a fan of Xanthia -- I have made over 500 of them, although I do think AutoTheme is superior in every way. I don't remember you ever asking me about that background (which I have to assume you modified). It doesn't matter a bit though as you and I have a long history and all you have to do it email me. I may not be recalling properly as I receive many emails. No worries though -- just email me and I'll see what I can do to help.

Is this a xanthia theme?
What makes it imcompatable?
Which errors do you refer... Semantical errors? ... in the code? Or is the theme breaking PN?
What do you want fixed?
Xanthia doesn't care that HTML code isn't technically compliant, only your browser does...(kinda).
Please be more percise about what you need done.

Joe, on your theme there isn't more problem that:
- it use tables (it use on XHTML are different & its only are used for specificate data, not for be formated, but this is only a XHTML specification, not a error)
- a lack of "alts" for images (recommended for search engines indexed),
- it's not prepared for change backgrounds (theme images had to be done with transparent background)
I hope soon your community will enjoy the site & that you can dedicate more time to mission with less preoccupations
(You know me from OS forum, I sent a message to you in your web)
I was looking more deeply your page, & there is a mixture of HTML & XHTML, really it need some revision.
(your DOCTYPE header is HTML, but there are XHTML elements on it, as label, singleton tags,..., and in other way you have elements that isn't permited on XHTML, as tables with atributes,..)

Good points gerky. The introduction of the XHTML into the theme by Joe will require a doctype revision at a minimum. I also see some mispelled tags that I expect were the result of editing (although I'll check the theme to verify that). -

Warrick,
I guess what I would like to see is:
and
A few other things that are driving me crazy:
1. The background of the blocks was a little too dark so I changed it to a lighter gray. However, it changed only the center and left a border of the darker color. That is the mismatch that Warrick refers to.
2. I wish the blocks could all be the same width: See the Amazone block.
3. The bord around the main center box does not seem to draw. The top left corner (tlc.gif) and the top right corner (trc.gif) appear but not the rest of the border.
Once I can get a solid base to build from my goal is to tweak the color combinations to match different flags from around the world. This way a member could select the original theme, a Spanish, French, German, Italian, Indian, Korean, United States, Cuban, Mexican, Etc inspired version of the exact same theme.
If I need to pay you (Warrick) or someone else to work this out, I will. I would appreciate any help any one could provide as well.
I would of course provide you any access needed to the site.
Thanks,
Joe
