I know that questions is on,
I understand that for upgrades could be recommendable keep it as ISO, on the other hand it would be recommendable have it as UTF for a better internationalization and compatibility,
I believe that he would be interesting to clarify the subject to be able in the correct way to third party developers and related stategies, server configurations,...
It's going to support ISO, UTF, both?

At the moment the charset is specified by the language pack you have installed, but part of the languages review after .8 will involve charsets. Mark may be able to expand further.

Haven't played with .80 yet but, use UTF-8, unless you are using MySQL less than 4.1. I have charset as part off some of my installs, and without it on others, in the .762 environment.

Nop, by default it use ISO-8859-1, & latin1 for charset & collation in MyISAM tables on database.
Same as .762.
RSS seem to support UTF-8, US-ASCII & ISO-8859-1 as input, but output is ISO-8859-1.
