hi,
i am currently playing around with pn0.8-ms2 and discovered a bug in xanthia, when assigning templates to modules.
just to make sure i am doing this right:
first i create the appropriate template file in /templates/modules/. then i 'create a new page configuration' via the admin panel, and afterwards edit the configuration file accordingly.
the changes are made in pageconfigurations.ini and everything seems logically correct to me. in the end, the selected template isnt used, instead it defaults to master.htm. it doesnt matter what theme i try, it doesnt wanna work for me.
caching is disabled and recompilation/checks are enabled, BTW.
debian
apache 2.0.54-5sarge1
PHP 4.3.10-16
wasnt sure about this, so wanted to check with others before submitting on bug tracker.
i hope someone can help or confirm. thx in advance!
ps: absolutely great piece of software in general. thanks PN devs!
philipp

sorry for being unprecisely.
im using postnuke version 0.8-ms2. fresh install.
in pnrender administration i have 'compile check' and 'force compilation' enabled. caching is disabled.
in xanthia administration, 'check for updated version of templates' and 'force templates recompilation' enabled and caching again disabled.
now i want to modify a theme, no matter what theme, in creating a new template used by a module. again, it doesnt matter what module i choose.
lets say SeaBreeze as the theme and 'Search' module.
so i save the new template file search.htm in /themes/SeaBreeze/templates/modules/ and go to the PN-admin panel, theme-manager, edit SeaBreeze, page configurations.
i 'create a new page configuration', selecting the search module and specifing the configuration file as search.ini, leaving the rest blank.
now 'page configuration assignments' lists the new entry as 'Search--- search.ini'. under 'page configurations' i can now edit the search.ini and assign the page template search.htm. i choose the color palette, block templates. but the changes are not visible on the search module page.
i can chenge the already existing home and master templates, which is working correctly. but i cant adde new templates.
i hope this understandable. thx again in advance and sorry for inconveniences.

Philipp,
Could you create an archive of your theme and attach it to a bug report. This will speed up the diagnostics a lot.
Thanks.

hi,
this does not affect any special theme. i tried it with all preinstalled themes (SeaBreeze, vodoodolly, andreas08). i always copied the corresponding master.htm template to the modules dir and modified it, renamed it accordingly.
i really dont know if this is a bug in the postnuke core or a stupid mistake on my side. i tried a lot of things, played with permissions etc, but nothing worked as it did in pn0.7* and xanthia. i even freshly installed PN800_20061002 and tested, with same results, or even better said 'no result'...
now my question is, can any1 confirm this behaviour? if not, than i did something miserably wrong ;)
and, i wouldnt know how to explain this any better in a bug report, since english still is a foreign language for me. i am confused myself about this and have no idea why its not working for me.
anyway, thanks a lot for your effort. and again, thank you and all the others for developing such a great CMS. cant be said often enough.

Philip,
No need to try and explain further just zip your theme up, create a bug report with a reference to this thread and attach the zipped theme.
It'll allow me to see exactly what you've got setup. This way i'll know if it's a bug or something you've done.
