Pagesetter refuses edits after I migrate site from local to remote server  Bottom

  • Hi all

I like Pagesetter a lot! But this is a shocker: all was working fine on my local machine, where I develop, so - as I always do with PN sites - I exported the DB to the remote server, made sure the config.php and config-old.php files had the right values in them, copied all the directories & files from local to remote - everything was fine - until I logged in as Admin on the remote site and tried to make a cosmetic change to one of the publications!

/var/www/example/modules/pagesetter/common-edit.php(383): "pagesetterLockTables" failed: Access denied for user: 'jds*****@localhost' to database 'jds****_-_example' while executing: LOCK TABLES lutz_pagesetter_pubdata8 WRITE, lutz_pagesetter_pubheader WRITE, lutz_pagesetter_revisions WRITE, lutz_module_vars WRITE

After that, instead of displaying the publication, it says "Unknown publication".

None of my other sites has behaved this way when migrating from local to remote - what do I need to do here?

    Regards
    Pru
  • Solved! i found that this is mentioned in the install.txt of Pagesetter - which typically, when you first install Pagesetter, makes no sense because you've probably never seen an error like this, so you just ignore it and go on installing. also i didn't have the problem while developing on my local machine, probably because i have granted every right under the sun to myself. the problem happened *weeks* after reading install.txt, on the remote server with different DB rights.

but the instructions on how to solve the problem seem to be in install.txt, so i'm putting my faith in mr. lind-nielsen and assuming this will work.
