Amazone - Blocks not Showing Up - Xanthia Theme  Bottom

  • I installed Amazone v1.1 without any errors or problems. I added a few test items to the database and then tried to add a block. However, the blocks do not show up on my web site. I am using a Xanthia theme for what that is worth. I searched the forum for any known issues about blocks not working with Xanthia, or just plain not working but didn't find anything on that subject.

Does anyone have an idea? You can see the web site at http://www.iccidaho.org

Also, is there a newer version than 1.1? If so, where is it located???

    Thanks

    Joe

  • Hello,
I am myself using AmaZone on my own website http://www.vedrine;net with a Xanthia theme and I tested all blocks on that theme with no problem.
Can you try the xanthia themes included in the PostNuke release (pnDefault, PostNuke, PostNukeBlue, PostNukeSilver) to see if the problem is still there ?
What block are you having this problerm with ?
I am about to release the 1.2 version but none of the changes made in this release should make any difference in your case.

  • OK. I changed my Xanthia theme to pnDefault and Amazone blocks do show up. However, a few strange things:

    1. The book shown in all of the blocks is not one that I have entered into the database.
    2. I refreshed the page several times and not once did any of the 6-7 items I added to the database show up in any of the blocks.
    3. At the top of each block is a text link that reads 'XML URL' or 'XML URL XML URL' (no quotes)
    4. Why doesn't it work in my Xanthia theme? I purchased it from http://www.xanthiathemes.com/ and John has always done good work there.
    5. What do I need to do to fix it?
    6. Do you freelance? IE: Can I pay you to look into it unless you can think of something easy??

Here are some images that might help you out:

    Thanks for your help!

  • A played around with the Xanthia stuff for a little while and now the blocks will show up on one page, but only one page.

http://www.iccidaho.org None of the pages have AmaZone blocks except this one page:

http://www.iccidaho.org/site_map.htm It's a module that I am still trying to get to work properly.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you,

    Joe
  • The lord of the ring item is the default one (you can change the default asin in the AmaZone control panel click on "Preferences" and change "Default ASIN:" to a different value suitable for your website)
so when this item is displayed this is the sign that the amazon query returned no item. So you need to understand why no item were returned by tha amazon query, most probably a problem in the block configuration.
The "XML URL" thing is displayed because you have turned "Show XML Link (for DEBUG):" to yes in AmaZone Preferences. Turn it off and it will disappear.
The issue with your theme is probably caused by the fact that you have added the AmaZone blocks after having initialized the theme. This is not specific to your theme or the AmaZone module this is a "feature" of Xanthia.
You need to activate these blocks for all the modules in Xanthia configuration.
