"Please allow cookies for this site" - They *ARE*, damn you...
 Top

  • I've had some of the users complaining that on logging in, they're being asked to "Please allow cookies for this site", when they already are.

Click on "Continue" or any menu item, and it works fine - behaviour demonstrates cookies are fine, and the login is retained between sessions fine.

This only appears to be within IE - Firefox and others appear to just completely miss that whinge out. It appears to be user independent.

    Any thoughts? I'm using 0.762.

  • That is simply a message which shows up regardless of your settings, and it always displays for me in FF.

See this recent post…garrding the issue.

    Well, well, well...
    Thanks for that.

I wonder why FF users *aren't* seeing it, then? *Not* that I'm complaining...

  • Unfortunetly, that message reads like a warning. If it's causing you lots of problems, it's something that can be edited in globals.php, if I remember correctly.

My theory is that FF users are smarter and recognize it as an informative statement. icon_biggrin

I finally removed the wording from my own site too since I got more users asking how to verify that cookies were enabled than I ever had asking me why they couldn't login when they were actually having cookie problems.
  • It's a useful message, to be sure. I think it might be lacking a bit of context. I want to say that this line will be refined for the next version, and I'll be sure to mention it to the appropriate people.
