Xanthia errors
 Top

  • I installed PostNuke on my website tonight using Fantastico through my control panel. Everything works fine and I am loving the site, but when I tried to access the other themes, it says that the Xanthia ones won't work. So I clicked on the Xanthia icon in the Administration area, and it gave me the following error message:

Fatal error: Smarty error: unable to write to $compile_dir '/home/silver/public_html/pnTemp/pnRender_compiled'. Be sure $compile_dir is writable by the web server user. in /home/silver/public_html/includes/classes/Smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1083

Is this a problem with the Fantastico installation, or is there something extra I have to do to make Xanthia work?

My site is located at http://www.silver-rain.uni.cc/, and it installed PostNuke version 0.7.5.0.

    Thanks. :)

Be sure $compile_dir is writable by the web server user.

The answer is in the error message... you need to make the pnTemp directory world writable (chmod 777).

  • Cool thanks. I didn't know what the $compile_dir was, so I wasn't really sure if CHMOD was the problem or not, but didn't know which directory or file needed it if so.

That got it all up and running though, so thanks! ^_^

  • You should upgrade to 0.762 ASAP.

You will gain some functionality. But more important, .750 has some security issues.

(You might point this out to your host so that they can set up their Fantastico to install the current version of PN.)
