I just did a clean install of .8, chose full install.
Now I don't see how to post any news to the site?
    There is no news module?

no, there is no news module that comes with the MS1 release. You can download all the additional modules as part of the ValueAddons release that is also available in the nightly builds area.

when .8 is released there will be several 'packages' aimed at differing consumers which will include some or all of these value addons modules.

Also, you'll find there's no AddStory or Submit_News modules in .8 - you simply visit the 'news' module administration interface.

Install any modules from the valueaddons archive like you would any current 3rd party module i.e. drop into modules/, regenerate, initialise and activate. Note, however, that not all of the modules are at the same stage of development.

Is there any timeline (% complete) for those addons. Some might be worth testing, others best stay clear of for now :)

The following are fairly complete - you'll recognize some of these as the fully templates, API compliant ones from .76x

    AutoLinks
AvantGo (a candidate for being dropped in favour of a lite theme)
    Banners
    Credits
    Ephemerids
    Members_List
Messages (needs new features or replacing with pnMessages)
    Pending Content
    Polls
    Quotes
    Ratings
    RSS
Sniffer (might be moved to system/)
    Wiki

FAQ and Sections are complete minus categorisation. Reviews and News still need some work. Downloads and WebLinks in valueaddons are no longer being developed (see the seperate NOC projects).

A candidate? I'll cast my vote to drop it.

Okay, on the news module, I'm noticing there isn't a very well made block for the front page. I'm guessing that's the part that needs work, right?

Edit: again, I'm an idiot. The settings are default pointing at the Blank module.
