Hi, I'm a newbie at installing post nuke so don't laugh.
I don't have a problem with installing phpbb.. so I thought I'd attempt it. Well.. something went wrong..
because when I go to www.mywebsite.com/install nothing is there... I know I'm supposed to edit config.php to find my mySQL right? or is this different?
TIA :D -

Uhhh.
...../install.php
It's there. Just checked.
And be careful about leaving a live link to an install....

Hmmm.. sorry if I am being a pest.
But.. now I've added PNphpBB to the works but I can't seem to get the program to install. When I go to where the file is. I get this error...
You can't access this file directly...
any ideas?
This is totally a LEARNING experience.
TIA for any and all help. :D -

I tried looking in the modules in Admin and it's not listed there. :( Is that because it's not installed yet? Is there a tutorial on how to do this? I tried looking lastnight but couldn't find anything. :(
Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

To install and use PNphpBB2, you:
- 1. Upload the PNphpBB directory to the modules (NOT Modules) directory
- 2. Make sure compression is off (Admin -> Settings)
- 3. Change the permissions on the directories ./modules/PNphpBB2/files, ./modules/PNphpBB2/images/upload, ./modules/PNphpBB2/templates/PNTheme/styles, and ./modules/PNphpBB2/templates/PNTheme/cellpics to be writable by your web server.
- 4. Go to Admin -> Modules and click Regenerate to see a current list of Modules available; PNphpBB should now be there (but not initialized).
- 5. Click to Initialize.
- 6. Click to Activate.
- 7. Remove the Install directory from PNphpBB (the forum will not function while it is there - I believe you get a warning telling you this if you try to skip this step).
- 8. Now the mundane stuff: putting a link in your menu, making theme changes, etc. These are pretty well covered in the docs that come with PNphpBB2
Don't forget the security patches....

hmmm.. I made sure the compression is off.. changed the permissions.. checked to see if it's in the modules file.. and it is... it shows on the list but when I click on Initialize it's still blank.
but when I changed the permissions I didn't have the images/upload file. *dunno*
Thankyou soooo much for helping me. :D I really appreciate it. :) -

Blank pages can be related to a large number of things and there isn't a quick or easy answer. But there is a blank page thread that talks about how to approach the problem, what some of the common issues are and how to narrow it down.
