  Further investigations reveal that it's the pound symbol (£) that is causing all the trouble !!
  Apparently Amazon wrongly code it on one byte (163) wich doesn't seems valid. If only UK has choosen euro as all sensible european nations did
  If any AmaZone user can verify if the same problem exist with the yen character (180), I would like to find a global solution both for £ and ¥ symbols.

  Notice: config.php is writable (hint: chmod 644)!
  Notice: config-old.php is writable (hint chmod 644)!
  
  You need to chmod your files to 644 for security reasons. I can help you do that. I will assume you are using FTP. Connect to your server via FTP. Select the config.php file, then right click. Do you see anything that says permissions or chmod? If not, look through the options on the top of your FTP program. You want to select the following
  Read Write
  Read
  Read
  
  That will equal 644. If you can not find it, let me know which program you use and I'll see if I can figure it out.

  Nope, but that's a problem more people have been experiencing. Try chmod 444 that works for some.
