There is a conversion from PNphpBB to pnForum, but if you've got alot of posts you might have to run it through shell.

It's possible people will soon be asking if anybody knows of a script for converting pnForum to PNphpBB2.

    HammerHead

Anyway, PNphpBB serves a purpose. There's so much in PNphpBB that isn't in pnForum (for a start, pnForum doesn't support sub categories) that means they serve two different markets.

I'm afraid many people will get got up in the hype, as I did, and think they need to switch from PNphpBB2 to pnForum. Unfortunately, some will discover, as HammerHead points out and I quickly discovered, that pnForum is not as full-featured as PNphpBB2.

Unfortunately, it's a lot easier to go from PNphpBB2 to pnForum than the other way around. So my warning to anyone thinking about a switch is to keep your PNphpBB2 and test pnForum until you're sure you can go without the PNphpBB2 features you may take for granted.

  • Hi All:

Well, I think there was a problem (if my memory is not tricking me) while installing / updating PNphpBB2 and having an AutoTheme *theme* as default. The recommendation was to change temporarily to another theme until update / install was completed.

I too expressed my opinion regarding pnForum as better option right now at the forum forum... oh well. Just want to say that the PNphpBB2 Web Site have had **MANY** problems since August. I tried to visit from time to time to check if there was an update. I am not sure if their problems are related with DNS, but certainly it adds doubts about PNphpBB2. IF it was DNS, PNphpBB2 should have moved to anotjher host months ago...

I as, thousand PostNukers, used PNphpBB2 in the past and appreciate Carls effort --when as Chestnut said there was no forum alternative. I think many here would like to see PNphpBB2 improve once again. However, we cant deny that there is pnForum and now it is an option.

BTW, Lobos, I need some help, Could you check this?:

Yes it seems to take forever to load for me - before I couldn't even access the site - I thought it was a problem with my IP block, but maybe not...

I think they are hosted by Drak, so it is doubtful that it's a server problem so maybe the issue is connected to the dns like you say...

I did go with pnForum, and have a few issues with it, and after testing PNphpBB2, I think it will be a much better fit (it seems a lot faster as well).

So is there a script to convert from pnForum to PNphpBB2?

what would be the best way about it?

Not *yet*... But it's certainly something that's needed.
