Help with Xara Menu --> AT --> Lobos Advanced Theme  Bottom

    Hi

    Well, this is an hybrid theme I made between a theme Lobos made in 2003 for me and his Advanced theme. I have a transparency problem with the menu I want to integrate... Need help here....

    I just need a clue...

    I need some help. I am working on a new HORIZONTAL MENU for my site. I am using Xara Menu and the results can be seen here:

    If you browse or navigate the MENU, you will notice it is superceded by content. How I can make the menu to show in FRONT of the content???

    This MENU will fix my problem with the cards module, and will allow me to get rid of some old JS used at my site.

    Any help will be appreciated. I am used to think that MOST programming problems have a fix, I hope this applies to this one and that someone will HELP me.

    Hi:

    Any designer willing to examine the template_index.htm and the style_main.css to help detect the problem and possible solution? I am sure an experienced designer could detect this...

    This conflict is the last bug to squash to move my site to use this menu and have the capability to shown the cards...

    Your help will be highly appreciated... I am willing to pay $40 as token for the FIX that will make the theme work with this MENU.

    I took a brief look at your site and I remember Nate addressing this issue as it plagued his dyanmenu. What does this mean for you... well back to the forums for some more digging... perhaps a PM to nate would be worht it-he's excelent with regards to helping folk out...

    Otherwise you may (as a quick fix/last hope) stick the menu into a div layer that sits atop everything else (set the index # to 999 or something high) This may /or may not work I'm just taking a guess...

    I appreciate your help, will check Nate post and will try your suggestions. I tried first DynaMenu but was not working. If I cant find a solution for Zara Meu, I will re-check with DynaMenu again.

    One thing that I just though of...

    I am not familiar with Xara menu so I cannot help on that end but I have had lots of problems finding good menus. Ultimately I decided to use the Suckerfish menu: http://www.htmldog.c…ckerfish/dropdowns/ It's really really simple, valid markup, about 12 lines of code and frankly if code can be sexy then this is quite sexy... I've used this menu alot and had nothing but success, and since it's jsut an unordered list and CSS changing it is a piece of cake! so perhaps take a look and see if suits your needs- I highly reccomend it!!

    Generally this is a "z-index" issue... The z-index determine's which layers are "stacked" upon which others. Adding:

    z-index: 1;

    or any number higher than 1 to elements you want to appear on "top" of other's should correct this problem... Though there is a problem with form-elements showing through on Explorer - which is an Explorer bug and not a z-index issue...

    Well the z-index setting only applies to layers/Div's

    Without seeing the xaramenu.js file it's impossible to see how the menu is being rendered- the above code you poted isn't too much help...

    I really would reccomend looking into another solution... If, as Nate suggests the rendering is an MSIE bug you can pretty much count on it not being fixed any time soon...

    Give the Suckerfish menu a try... it may be the fix you need...

    The MSIE bug is only referring to just the form elements (text boxes, etc...) being rendered "in-front" of the menu regardless of Z-indexing...

    What's wrong with good ol' Dynamenu? You might be able to fudge a graphical root menu using the graphic-text as icons, or rendering the DM footer and calling the submenu's directly... Or just make do with a text-based menu with graphical caps...
