Hello sorry I'm a newbie, but I am not having any luck customizing these AutoTheme templates. I change an image here or there. But I need to wysiwyg it with my skill level. I am not having problems setting up any module I want to use or any general PN things. I just can't get any of the themes to suit me. Please visit my current website that is all HTML. I haven't converted the main pages over yet. It is www.hillbillyhotrods.net I don't want my site to look like that anymore, but I need the black backgrounds, and links to be able to use images instead of just text like I do on my current site. I want my site to pop and not just being a bunch of boring text and blocks. I am currently on the fiblack AutoTheme. Any help will be grealty appreciated. -

autothemes is really easy to work with, simply design a template in any editor, take the theme.html and insert your design using that tmeplate.
i use AutoTheme here http://www.stuntwars.com
once you have a template setup simply upload the theme.html into the theme directory and then when configure you pages it will default to that template.. now there is a PN plug that will assist with buttons unless you use links that are specific for PN then you should be able to simply put in nice links with mouseovers and such..
hope that helps -

There is a very nice tutorial and some accompanying files on the AutoTheme site that walks you through in designing/understanding AutoTheme themes. It's a separate download than the docs that come in the AutoTheme module. It explains how you can layout a complete webpage in a program like Fireworks or Photoshop and then slice it up into the desired header, footer, blocks sections...and finish it all up in CSS. I printed it out and use it as reference manual. You can come up with some purdy kewl designs using this technique and it takes you away from that "blocky" look you see in most of the themes out there.
