I've been looking for a theme that will work for me, but I've had alot to look at and can not single one out just yet. I have had an idea about a theme, but personally lack HTML/PHP/CSS experience other then crude butchery I sometimes have to do/re-do a few times before it's just right.
I've been thinking of a theme design that is actually "not there".
What I mean by this is: borders on blocks/news item/most other portions of the site, being invisible. A static 800x600 or 1024x758 JPG as a background to the entire site. The only portion I would think would show would be the header with a dyna menu drop down for navigation.
All other portions of the site would "hover" over the JPG background.
This would be for a "lite" type website. News/blocks being a small portion of the info, with the link-thru being the main content of the news/block.
Any comments/suggestions, or anyone know if something like this exists?
CSS comes to mind as an easy way to make the look of this theme, but as I said, I personally couldn't craft this from scratch.

Indigaz
This would be for a "lite" type website.
Not with a "static 800x600 or 1024x758 JPG as a background" it wouldn't and I would advise against doing this due to the fact that users would have to load and image that would be in excess of 100kb maybe more for the theme.
The current excepted method seems to be little or no images for fast loading and the use of CSS to irk out the UI. People that require more design eyecandy tend to slice the images up into smaller pieces to help in loading.
There is no "true" way to design a theme, and the best thing to do is start trying to implement your ideas, start making themes. This is the best way to understand what is, and probably isn't possible (not a lot that isn't possible).
Check out www.webvida.com for some examples of different theme layouts - this is a commercial site, but you should get some ideas from the demo images.

How about a solid color background with a small graphic centered. My biggest question is how do I get the block container area transparent or it's opacitiy changed to allow viewing thru the block/article area? The rest might fall into place if I can figure that out.
Thanks
