I have had a site up since 1996 that holds the domain name and the US registered trademark OnlineTV. It has been a nuke site since the last century. It had 1000's of pages on Google, along with the spammers for that word and trademark infringers. But as long as my listing was on the first page I was ok. I never filed a spam report.
Now, I find out a search for OnlineTV produces a media player we worked a deal with in exchange for sales, a porn site and an infringer (Real Networks) and that even a search for onlinetv.com in google produces nothing and I dont know why. Is it to get us to buy adwords? Is it the new political sections? We look into some reasons in our story at:
http://www.onlinetv.com/nuke/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=20
But I wonder if anyone else is having a similar problem with Google?

It might have something to do with the META-Refresh on your home page to some domain park/sell site.... Google does not like that... And looking at my toolbar, it appears you have no PageRank...

Well Nate, actually after a lot of work and moaning on all the sites I could, I finally got to the bottom of it all. It was far more complicated than the refresh. I think I can say that would only drop one in the ratings. Somehow my logic took me to some strange places and I am sharing them as embarassing as it was. You can read it on the blog http://onlinetv.blogspot.com I will be putting up the next part that has all the problems tomorrow I think.
By the way, I really like what your stuff does. I am off to try it and will be by to let you know how it goes on my sites. I brought a lot of them back up because of all the cool stuff you guys do. -

I see you are selling it, what is your realistic price considering that the domain will never rank (and no guarantee of indexing either) in google for obvious competitive reasons. PM me on the issue. -

I don't see any problem with Google blocking onlinetv.com it isn't even real site just a URL used to forward you to a cybersquatter. If the URL were used for a real site that talked about onlinetv or online tv related issues then I'd be pissed at Google but as it stands I'm glad that Google filters out garbage sites like these. Finding good and reliable info on the net is hard enough without having to put up with crap like that. -

@thedc - You might want to read the blog linked to above before slamming the guy... what your seeing is a recent change due to googles actions.

He should use the URL to link to the blog as well. It would help his case. Perhaps Google inapropriately blocked his previous site, I don't know. But since that site is no longer functioning there is no way to tell. -

You may have been a target of a competitor who purchased black hat SEO in your name and Google dropped your site thinking you were cheating. This is the new method of evil competitors to drop you off of google. Look it up, it is happening more than google is letting on.
An SEO list we subscribe to had a lengthy article on this issue. I didn't save it though - sorry.

Webpro News or Web Pro World was the one with the article about google banning sites because of perceived no-no SEO tactics. They just did a major update in the past couple weeks.
"google bowling" is the name of the tactic.

Aye your right there... it might actually do so (there is some releavent info there) but the redirect is way too fast to glean anything from it.

Wow, some of that stuff was harsh. I don’t think I am a spammer and as I own the actual US registered Trademark for OnlineTV I do not think I am a squatter on the name. I also owned the domain since domains existed. I also would sell anything I own for a price, as I am a businessman that is what we do, buy and sell for a living. In between we make nice things happen. While it is very much for sale, it has been in my hands more than 10 years.
Anyway, I was in the webdeveloper forum and as you might have seen got pretty reamed in there. Everything from accused of spamming them to contributing too much (the admin accused me of opening 5 threads after I did 3 threads (1 for this 1 for trademark/scraper and 1 for flash in a site all I thought different enough to warrant a new thread) - so you see it was getting bad) On one side, I see me as a normal every day guy like you people. On the other side I see that I have these above normal domains and I get a lot of grief because they think I should be Eisner or Gates rich and I am a poor boy on a farm, with the same problems as you all.
So, I think there may have been some people scraping my site. I found a couple sites that stole the whole page codes. I really think the German squatter caused the problems as he actually started to buy adverts from g((gle when it all started. Right now you can see the only thing returned for the results is the squatter/infringer for the media player and his sale sites. He has scraped my sites and used my source and text for his hidden code pages for years now and it pissed me to see him next to me in the searches. But at least I was on the top for my domain name and the content that is all about the URL name as you can see from the site as it sits now and in the past at archive.org
I have brought up my old site http://www.tektalk.com with al the great post nuke stuff it is so nice and easy to create these. Specially to bring the information I am getting on banned sites and how to get out from it. I have already done a reinclusion and got actual responses from G**Gle. I was lucky to be able to move the content to the other URL (and have one that matched the content) and found people FOLLOW the content. I really think you need no fancy domain name, just the content. Alexa ranked the new site at 40k on the web from the traffic, as it is less than a month g((gle gives it nothing. However, if you look at another page the music one, it was a refresh from sept to Nov and had a 4pr from g and I put the new site on it for music.
Please, I really am not some jerk spammer; I have real content, real sites. I am here cause I need help and will offer what I can. Just like you all. I am far from a newbie, yet I fell behind as I was out of the loop for over a year. This whining in forums, as pointed out, does not bring value to the effort; it brings information that may help me get my site back in listings.
To fight the infringer I worked a deal out for 30 percent of sales on stuff coming from my sites and took it on as a reseller. I can’t afford lawyers to defend it another way. After moving some 600 of them I never got a penny. Don’t you find it interesting that G((gle never stopped feeding their adsense to a banned site?
So, the thing is that I found a way around a google ban. How to get high rankings in all keywords without even using your site. Because the forums were so rank on me I started up the old Tektalk so I could share these adventures, they are wild. I found it incredible.
I think you are all too smart and can figure much out by just doing a search now, looking through 3 pages and see how I got back on there. If not, I am writing the stuff out, but it takes time. My day job is writing for newspapers and magazines so I don’t have a lot of extra time to do the free things I like to do.
By the way, a banned site need only put a 301 on the root dir for a couple days, and once g((glebot sees it note it is dead, it will start to relist within 35 to 45 days automatically as a new site. You can already see the changes in the nuke part of my story (the returns it gets on search).
The best was ACTUALLY getting a response from g((gle. They will not read the site to find the blog, and I am just leaving the .com sit sort of dead in the water and put the content on the new site. I dont mind the "sandbox" on the new site because at least it comes up. This weekend we were rated in the top 50k for sites on the net as I released a hitherto unknown recording of a very popular band. (I am content not spam) Also, if you enter just the name without the .whatever you can find me now in the first pages (through the blog and the music site).
Sorry about the way I am writing, I am trying NOT to fill the messages with the domain names and get the spam moniker again.
So, if anyone has a site wants to link to the new sites let me know. I am looking now to work with other similar content sites to reciprocate traffic and content. I have 5000 hours of rare concerts (I own all world wide rights to video and songs) that drive people anywhere I want but have yet to figure out how to make anything other than traffic happen. Wheres the revenues? You can all add your links to the sites for free in the weblinks and promote on sites that are similar to mine with story submissions. I am open to any deeper business relationships as well as help in making rankings or the site nicer.
Thank you for the interest and help, I do appreciate it and hope my work at this returns something for you.
Rick
