The Submit News module on my site, which has worked fine for a year, has suddenly failed. Specifically the Preview function has failed.

When you fill in the Submit News form and click Preview, it generates a fresh blank Submit News form and does not submit the story to the Waiting Content directory. However, if you click Post then the story is published to the site normally.

Nothing has changed on the site except that the host moved it from one hard disk to another. De-activating and removing the Submit News module and replacing it with a fresh copy from backup doesn't solve the problem.

Can anyone suggest what might be wrong?

Is there anything else going on? I wonder if some of those "the web server needs to write to this directory" directories that XTE and pnRender uses have had their permissions changed in the HD move?

Thanks v much. I was suspicious about permissions but the Submit News directory itself seemed fine. But it certainly feels like the system can't write something it needs to. Apols for ignorance but how can I check which directories XTE and pnRender need to write to?

it's unlikely to be a pnRender or Xanthia issue as submit news isn't templated. Does it work with a different theme? What version of PN do you have?

I've tried it with Xtra Lite and it still doesn't work. I'm running PN 0.750.

I have a very similar site on the same server which was moved at the same time and works fine. The only difference I can see between the two installations is that the working one uses 0.750 [Security-Patched1].

The URL for the broken Submit News also looks odd - "&meid=37" is added at the end of the URL (normal URL on working site is xxx/modules.php?op=modload&name=Submit_News&file=index). Don't know if that gives a clue to what's going on.

Broken site is www.aswataliraq.info. Working site is www.outtherenews.com.

I've narrowed down the problem that the Submit News form just won't generate the 'News submission preview' page. Everything else about the module seems to work fine.

You should upgrade to .760 and see if that fixes your problem.
