I can't help but chuckle at this...:D:D:D ...since we're all volunteers who don't get paid, we make our own hours as we see fit.
  • and still can't answer my question.
  • After having spammed the board with rants, there's not much motivation to help you anymore, know what I mean? Your question here has been asked and answered time and again, but you've got to use the search function to find the answers.

...upload the new theme to the ../themes/.. directory. then go to Admin and change the default theme to whatever the new one is...

A quick search turns up a bunch of information that you'll find useful in your study of PostNuke...
    Look here ...
and here ... and here ... and here ...
    and here ...

...and I'm sure there's a ton more if you look. (I got all these from a search of "install change theme") ... simple as that.
  • Take a look at the free version of AutoTheme for the easiest theming method available.

There's also Xanthia themes (Xanthia is installed in the core by default) which are much like AutoTheme, but seem to have a larger learning curve.
  • "It's very easy." really? AutoTheme just tells me what i already knew.
this program is highly difficult to work with for even the simplest features.

Simply take your new theme in it's folder and place it your theme directory.
How? what themes folder? where is it located> my directory? host SQL file data?
cpanel online? this information would be helpful.

i see how it works but THERE IS NO INFORMATION PROVIDED HOW TO ULOAD. These are the simple tools and instruction necessary and they are missing. maybe you guys would get mre support if basic websites features did not reside hidden deep in inscrutable access etiquettes that requires hours of searching and foruming. if that is a rant maybe you need to examine why more community support is not available and make the connection.

Once there, go to your administration panel in your site and choose "Settings". A short way down the page, you can choose (from a drop down menu) from the themes that are residing in your themes folder, including the new one you just placed there.

i see no way to upload themes, gifs or anything else.
i uploaded 10 news stories and randomly 7 of them show a graphic with a red x and the others have the phpnuke postage stamp.

There is a box which shows a logo gif -what is this? whose logo? where si this from? is there a directory i can access from the admin panel thats has an upload capacity like cpanel? this sn't the secret afterschool club. these are basiv building blocks of sites. how is it a rant tio infiorm you your community and "support" does not solve essential basic intial building blocks for web sites?

If you don't have basic FTP skills (for uploading,) you're definitely in over your head. We can't be expected to spoon-feed every detail of it to you...you MUST possess basic web skills (FTP, CHMOD, directories, uploading, etc) AHEAD OF TIME if you're to have any success with PostNuke.

My final recommendation: do some research (yeah that again!) on the web for the basic skills that you're lacking in, and then you'll have no problem getting your site up and running.

That said, do a google for PHP-Nuke, Mambo, MD-Pro, Xaraya, Geeklog and well, there's hundreds of other content management systems that you can try, but I'll warn you ahead of time, PostNuke IS as easy as it gets. Meaning that if you're having trouble with PN, you'll meet the same fate most likely with any of the others. If you want to get into "content management" you're going to have to do your part and learn the basics first (or peacefully research, ask & learn as you go, like many of us did.)

Unfortunately, everything I've said hasn't been up to snuff with what you expect for support, so to continue this is wasted time and effort on both our parts.

    Good day.

If you are seeing the PHPNuke Postage stamp then you are running PHPNuke and NOT PostNuke.

  • That was kind of funny... The fact that the user was running PHP-Nuke came to light on another thread and we haven't heard back as of yet. :) (Well...I haven't checked all my subscribe messages...so better not hold my breath.)

    :D
  • Not the first time PHP nuke has asked question here! :)

There forum and user support is a lot more limited than that for Postnuke (thanks all of you smarter than me, for the help!) this is one reason I went with Postnuke and not PHP-Nuke (although I did install PHP-nuke first) it got caned!

    :)
  • I try to avoid the phpnuke site, and when I used to go there I had to have a popup blocker turned on...
