Since the 0.76 release, any administrator can choose in the Settings MODULE which module to display as homepage.
Is there a reason that Admin_messages MODULE cannot be chosen in the list ?
Maybe it's related to the way the admin-message is displayed with the NEWS by default...
Any help or explanation about this ?

Yes. Admin messages can only be displayed through a block, there is no user interface to admin messages. As a result, they can't be set as the homepage. This also applies to the quotes and ephemerids modules.
