Admin messages - Error! Sorry! A problem was encountered
 Top

  • I again, congrats for your great work!

I'm upgrading from 0.750 to 0.760, I found some problems but I was able to solve them all with the help of your great forums.

    My sytem HERE

The problem I face this time is with admin messages, I searched the foruns with severall key words, like ADMIN MESSAGES, UNABLE TO CREATE ADMIN MESSAGES, etc.......

I found some topics that refer to a missing "s" in the file function.adminmessagesadminlinks.php but that can't be my problem since I checked via ftp and the name is correct, also my version it's the final release of 0.760 when this problem was already solved. I also found a post where they gived us this LINK I installed lattest function.adminmessagesadminlinks.php file but the problem remains.

I have admin messages modules upgraded and functioning, you can see HERE
I have admin messages block correctly configured and active, you can see HERE and HERE
I can create admin messages you can see HERE

All this explanations and now the problem, the problem is I can't see the admin messages! I can't see it in the module you can see HERE at link index.php?module=Admin%20Messages&type=admin&func=view and I can't see them at the center of the site, you can see HERE, even if I use EXTRALITE theme you can see HERE

When I enter index.php?module=Admin%20Messages&type=admin I get this error:

Error! Sorry! A problem was encountered while loading items

In the past using 0.750 and 0.750b admin messages show up correctly.

Finally I can give you another info that might or might not be important, the admin message contains plain text, HTML code to an image with link and HTML code to an flash.

Any ideas? I thank you all in advance, thanks.
  • If your site is using AutoTheme lite .8 I don't think it is fully supportive of PN .760 yet. An update to AutoTheme lite .85 is due very soon.
  • Thanks for the answer BattleSpunk!

Yep but like I told you, even with ExtraLite the problem remains.....

    Help? :)
  • I've installed AT-Lite .85 and the problem remains, with AutoTheme, with extralite..... ideas? help?

    Thanks! :)
  • This is the same problem that I am having. I get the message "Error! Sorry! A problem was encountered while loading items" at the top of all administration typse of pages: Modules, Blocks, Xanthia, etc.

Additionally, the "Admin" page does not populate with all of the administration icons. All of the modules are listed as being active (and I have checked for duplicates, and recopied the files to check for corruption).

Also, I am not even using Admin Messages. I have the module active, but I don't have an Admin Message block configured.

Hopefully someone will have a solution for this.
  • I just tried to Deactivate / Remove / Regenerate / Initialize / Activate the Admin module and now am stuck with the module not initializing.
  • Ok, here goes.

After having these issues I went into the database and looked at the nuke_modules table. My "Admin" module was in a state of '1' which is uninitialized. I manually changed this to '3' which is active and refreshed my modules list. Now the Admin module was showing up active again.

Also, now that I had done this, when I went into the Administration menu I got options for creating categories (which I hadn't gotten before). I tried to make a test category, but it never stuck. When I would refresh the screen I still wouldn't have any categories.

Since I had already been in the database, I figured I'd look to see where these categories should be stored. I couldn't find any table that looked like it would hold these Admin categories, so I too a look at the pnint.php in the Admin module directory. Lo and behold, there should be 'admin_category' and 'admin_module' tables in the database that were not there. I manually created these tables and was then able to create a category in the Admin module. As soon as I did this I was able view all of the Admin icons, and the error message I was getting went away.

So the error that a problem was encountered while loading items is because it could not get a list of Admin categories because the table did not exist.

    Hopefully this helps someone.
  • opel, his problem isn't with the Admin module, but with the Admin Messages module not dispalying it's content. I'm having a problem with it myself, which is how I found this thread.
