Not sure about the foundation having it's own domain or the need for it. However covering the other domains. The postnukepro domains have already been transferred to the foundation.

postnuke.com was orignally registered by Harry Zink (when the project was formed) and you'll notice that fizbin llc is one of the founders of the PN foundation. Transfer of this key domain to the foundation should be a formaility since Harry's part of the foundation anyway.

The .de domains are an issue that's ongoing with the german community (postnuke e.V.) hence they use post-nuke.net and laterly PN-cms.de. I'll leave larsneo to comment on this should he wish but suffice to say it's not an ideal situation.

I can't answer the registration of postnuke.org but i'll ask and see if I can obtain some information on that.

In general a number of domains have been registered by individuals with various levels of affiliation to the project. It would, obviously, be desirable for all of those domain registrations (international ones only) to be held by the foundation. However it's not guarenteed that the registrant would be co-operative in that transfer of registration nor that legal measures would be guareteed to be effective. I don't think anyone would really want one of the first acts of the foundation being to get lawyers chasing domain registrations.

That, to the best of my knowledage anyway, is the state of play with the various domain registrations.

I'll also split this topic since this not really related to the original announcement (and we have an entire forum for foundation questions).

  • Moving PostNuke.com from Fizbin, LLC to the foundation is just a formality and paperwork. :)

  • I would think it would be quite important for PostNuke Foundation have official domain name registered by foundation, but it's up to the foundation decide, if it needs one.

It doesn't have to be postnuke.something as we know, how international domain registeration system works. Even in national systems, if someone has registered domain before you have your PostNuke e.V founded and registered, he doesn't have to give it to PostNuke e.V I believe?

Hopefully future PostNuke.eu won't go to Martin, but PostNuke e.V or PostNuke Foundation will register it, before it will be available to Martin

I think web CMS without an official domain is like shoemakers children without shoes or Michael Schumacher without his Ferrari.
  • upaja, when the project was started it was done there were mistakes because it was just a group of guys who were "scratching their own itch" so to speak. They had never done anything like this and didn't think about the "global" issues. We will encourage everyone to donate their PostNuke* domain to the foundation but don't expect everyone will.

The foundation will have it's own site, it was mentioned in the announcement.

  • Devin,

we would be grateful if Mr.Kaspar would offer the .de to the German foundation or the PostNuke foundation itself, even for money. But don't even think about it...

FYI: cybersquatting is a crime.. icon_rolleyes

Registering domain postnuke.de or postnuke.org, when there was no PostNuke e.V. or Postnuke Foundation was no crime. It was totally legal. But how moral, ethical or supportive for Postnuke it is to keep them now, is a personal and financial decision.

yes.. it bothers me.. i started a thread a while back about certifying official sites, because I believed some had misused the postnuke namesake.. it shouldn't bother me, but I don't like seeing good things (or people) taken advantage of and when it's within my capacity to defend/protect, i will (or.. at least try to icon_lol ). I'll leave it to more capable hands ;)

the keyword is was .. I'm not making any suggestions, but if I had my drothers.... oh boy. ;)

..didn't mean to make a stink or turn the topic.. please carry on.
  • postnuke.com seems like the perfect domain.

I'm sure that something like foundation.postnuke.com is as good as anything.
  • as long as it only touches domains, i dont care bout cybersquatters .. should they do what they want to ...
Its the only way to make a good, rich community when you let others register fitting names ....
I think the main prob. with Mr.kaspar (and domain names.. not speaking bout different things) is a long lasting competition of the two sites ... anyway hes outnumbered and cannot give so much effort to the whole thing as the german team does.
Anyway, hes welcome in the PN structure (AFAIK) and could help us, that would be more better than continuing a own challenge.
