about poll/voting system  Bottom

  • I d like to have a poll system that users can comment on their votes and also add new options to vote until a specific number.
    for ex.
i d like to let my users start a poll,
where is the best place to have an holiday?
and that user adds at least three options ,
    miami / nice / istanbul

and another user comes and votes for one of them, while giving a comment on
    why his choice is that.
also another user comes and adds paris to poll and votes saying that it s the city of love.

this goes on, for ex. until 7 options, then i d like to conclude the poll myself or the one who opens the poll after a while.

is this possible to do with postnuke's poll system or what should i do to add something like that to my site?
  • i'm not sure if it has the flexibility your'e looking for, but i would begin with Mar West's Advanced Polls Module

    check it out @ www.markwest.me.uk
  • does not work with pnRender. so is there any working alternative poll module for .76x?
  • advanced polls works with 760+ and is fully templated
  • I am glad to read that "advanced polls works with 760+".... But it did not in my case: I have got exactly the same problem as described by the very last message in the folowing thread: http://www.markwest.me.uk/index.php?module=Forum&func=viewtopic&topic=43&highlight=unregistered%20user

So when I it 'vote' it shows voting form again and never shows results.

    Any help is appreciated.

  • Well, had to go through the code etc... Loked at advanced_polls_user_display and made a minor change and it works as I expected.. But... how it was working for everybody else ?!???!
  • Oooooops.... I was wrong - another piece of functionality is not working now ... Here we go again...
  • With all due respect, this advanced polls mod is very buggy when it comes to the math logic on the multi-select and ranked polls...

In multi-select, I have 17 options, with 5 choices. The stats are all above 100% (i.e. 2 votes could be 200%). Also, votes do not update in the multiselect and ranked polls. I have several votes, cast by several voters, yet the block shows "1" vote.

I've searched Mr. West's board, and there are open threads regarding these issues that remain unanswered, or have remained unanswered for months.

I will try to see what I can do to help.

In case anyone wants to see this behemouth in operation, see http://internationallawsection.org at the Florida Bar. Frankly, I'm ashamed to present this mod, but since PostNuke has changed several times in the last year, I find it difficult to keep up the motivation to continue to keep developing until things stabilize... In fact, I can't even get the 7.6+ series to run without workarounds at ipowerweb.com.

    Best Wishes.
