All Xanthia themes use block control...just activate a theme, go into Xanthia and configure block control.
You get to decide which blocks show on which templates - home, master, particular module, etc.
Takes a little time to set up, but you can also use visual block control.
Just download the latest postnuke release - .760 RC4 and install it somewhere to play around with it.

Me to. I setup all my themes with 9 extra blocks in the xaninit, just like autothemes, even if I don't use them all just like AutoTheme. Then I use block control to activate/deactivate them.
The one thing Xanthia is missing is the ability to chose one of those extra 9 block positions in the blocks admin. What I have been doing with some 750 sites is to install AutoTheme just to have that option and then use Xanthia for the theme. When 760 final is here and Shawn releases the 760 upgrade for it I'll keep doing the same. -

Is there still an issue with blocks in the new Xanthia? I am using autothemes for one of my sites and I am considering going to xanthia, just to get Pagesetter working right.
But I use over 60 autoblocks, and I am wondering how that will change over in Xanthia. I tried Xanthia the first time I was setting up my new theme but it just couldn't do what I needed, they said the next version could. I am wondering if the new version of Xanthia has made big improvements? -

The issue that I'm referring to is that xanthia area blocks do not work. I keep hearing people say they work, but I've seen no evidence. Even the instructions posted by PHPnut do not work .... inquiring minds want to know. -

As in custom block areas? I have several that I use on several sites that work fine. TLNAV and WEATHERBLOCK are two I use often for a navigation box and a modded weather block.
Both are set as custom zones, with custom templates, and I assign blocks to them via Xanthia Block Control - and been doing it since .750b and into .760 now.
Granted, the process for creating and activating a new custom zone and templates for it is not spelled out - but a little playing on a dev site and I was able to do it the first time. If I was one to keep better notes, I'd share
Eventually, I just added those zones into the base clean theme I install when doing a new project - so that the zones and such are auto-created via the Xanthia install theme process.

I think Warricks problem on this is he expects to see the area blocks show up in the blocks admin, which I think most of us expect. Blocks/Xanthia really should be able to communicate with each other better.

I wasn't actually referring to that, although I do think the system should be more intuitive.
I finally got Area blocks worked out in my themes. I have to admit the system has promise, but it really needs to be more intuitive. -

How were you able to apply certain blocks to areas?
With AutoTheme you create custom blocks, So any block you create could be associated with any area.
Its been a while since I played with Xanthia, How do you apply a particular block with an area in Xanthia? -

I am seconding Rixride -- Xanthia does not make it easy to add new block areas. I am very familiar with AutoTheme and it is very easy to do so, but for the life of me adding new block areas to Xanthia seems far harder than it needs to be. I am going to keep reading these forums as the answer is here somewhere.
BTW - doing this to a site on an existing .750 install.

If I'm understanding things right, AutoTheme now works in pretty much the same way Xanthia does for custom block areas, now you define them and control them in the THeme control panel.
I've not really worked on trying my hand at a from scratch Xanthia theme yet, so I'm not 100% sure how/where to add teh custome areas in the files, but from the Theme Edit Page in Xanthia, you add a custom block location, and it tells you what code to put in the template to display that block. Then in the block control area, you tell it where to display blocks on a module by module basis.
I've not had time to play with it extensivly, but with the exeception of a problem getting the Admin Message to show in a custom location, it seems to be working well for me on the one site I'm working on. I'm about to start work on my first Xanthia theme I'm building from the ground up in a week or so, after I get a few paid projects finished up.
