What happened to mtrad.com? (The real story...)  Bottom

  • For those of you looking for the statistics, rssfeed, rssdisplay, nukeowl and other stuff, you'll have noticed that www.mtrad.com has been down for almost 3 weeks. (Yeah, I wrote that so that searches for those modules would show this topic... icon_smile )

Anyway, the site's down and it will be awhile before it's back up. If you need something from there, send me email (crsATmtradDOTcom) and I'll get it to you.

Some folks have suggested that I finally got fed up with PN and moved on. That's not the case. Actually, it's much more mundane... First my server died when the disk drive melted. Then 2 days later, I had a heart attack. Well, we're burying the server but thank god, I'm in better condition than the server. icon_lol

Anyway, I was in the process of doing a major overhaul and redesign of mtrad.com and so, of course, don't have good backups of the PN DB. So, I'm rebuilding it and will release it shortly.

But, I'm not going to hurry because I have to pace myself. Everyone's on my case about eating healthy and getting plenty of rest and eliminating stress. (Don't they understand that I'm going to be stressed out until I get the site rebuilt? icon_redface )

Lessons for everyone to learn from my experience:

    1. Always, always do regular backups of all your files and store them off-line. Every week. Never fail. No excuses.

    2. If a doctor says something like "If you don't stop <unhealthy habit="habit">, you'll eventually get heart disease." he means "If you keep doing stupid shit, eventually you'll end up in an emergency room unable to breath with an elephant pounding on your chest (if you're lucky.)"

    3. Doctors are almost always right in the long run.

Lastly... Does anyone know how to get the left-over adhesive from pads and tape off? It's been like 2 weeks and I still have this gunk all over...</unhealthy>
  • i really wish you a fast and safe recovery - and listen to the doc in the future icon_wink

Use an alcohol swab/pad to wipe it off. May take a little scrubbing!

    Get well soon !!!!!
  • Craig, if you would like a temporary host for your stuff, I'd be happy to host it at soundwebdev.com until you are back on your feet. shoot me a PM if you're interested.
  • good god man.. glad you're still with us.

backup your heart and smoke your doctor's files.. got it. good advice. thanks.
  • Wow. Glad to hear all is well! Welcome back to the fray. :D
  • Sigh! Close call, glad to see you around, we knew you hadn't given up on PN. It's just so darn addictive and we're just so annoying, cough, I mean lovable. ;)

But take your doctor's advice and take it slow.

  • Hey Craig, Glad you're OK. Take care and pace yourself.

Oh, and orange solvent works wonders on adhesive...IMO much better than alcohol and without the heavy scrubbing.

  • Glad to hear you're ok Craig. Sucks that it always takes a disaster to make us realize how important somethings are, and I'm not talking about your web server.
  • So much for the rumor Craig doesn't have...(you pick 'em)

    1.) A heart
    2.) Friends
    3.) Our respect

    wink
  • Slugger - your response made me laugh out loud. icon_smile Thanks everyone for the kind words and suggestions on getting rid of medical adhesive. I found a better hosting solution and I'm starting to rebuild things there.

But it will be awhile. The weather is really great here on the Left Coast right now and my oldest daughter came home from college to nag me into eating right and I took my youngest daughter to preschool this morning and we played on the jungle gym. You know, got to focus on this rehab stuff... 8)
