Can anyone give me any pointers on creating a basic block - I've got some existing PHP code that lists some data from a table and I want to put that into a block - there must be a simple way but I'm struggling to find anything useful.

The tip about core/php blocks has worked - thanks to all the helpers I've had of late.
I now have on my work intranet a block showing a traffic light status for each service on our network - we've used graphics but something like this :
Network Green
Email Amber
Internet Green
Intranet Green
etc
If anyone is interested - it's not a Postnuke module or block in it's own right (because it originally ran separately) but I can bundle it up and post if people want it. -
