Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong place or is a really dumb question but i cant seem to get my head around it.

Basically i'm making a site that will have amongst other things, news and regular articles. What i want to know is what modules/blocks do i need to use for these?

The site will have news that will be split up into sections. ie, football news, hockey news, tennis news etc and each section or topic of news will have its own page but will also be shown together on the main page of the site.

Then there will also be regular columns by 4 or 5 people, like a regular newspaper column where once a week the column is updated and the older columns are stored in an index or archive.


My probably stupid question is what module or blocks should i be using for the different news sections and what should i be using for the regular columns. I got a bit confused wit hthe news, topics, and sections bits all being seperate.

News in conjunctions with the topics module should give you what you need...

Sections has absolutely nothing to do with news or topics. It's simply a way of displaying HTML content.
