404 file not found error after install

I had some uncertainty about setting up the MySql database, but apparently it got populated with PostNuke files during the install.
Nonetheless, the install dialogue said database not created even though it finally let me past that step when I found correct MySql user info from my host.
Now, several of the admin functions return 404 file not found errors. add story, banners, polls, sections, settings, topics, all work -- settings even stored the site name.
But Blocks, pnRender, permissions, ratings, type tool, mailer, quotes, censor and others don't work.
