RSS Reader?  Bottom

  • How can I put a regular 3-rd party RSS feed on my site and have it show up as a regular page?

I just want to show the info from this page: http://www.thecarconnection.com/rss/index.asp
    on my site.

    Many thanks!
  • Try the RSSdisplay module from http://www.mtrad.com.
  • Hello

I tried all these modules for RSS and simple cant run it in a good way. These RSS at mtrad have weird errors in last versions.

Then I tried to use the magpie program, which seems to be the mainly program to read rss and convert it to PHP... The module of mtrad uses magpie. But magpie lacks good doccumentation and becames to complicated to adapt in post nuke. I cant run it using a PHP box in blocks areas. And more than this, program wasnt creating cache, I dont know why.

So I find an excellent script at http://jade.mcli.dist.maricopa.edu/feed/ The program configure Magpie to your use at a JavaScript call. Have nice options and admin areas etc. Then you simple put the code of JS in your page. In PN I created an right box - blocks area - Core/HTML type, put the call of script, hack the script here and there to fit my necessity and Tchans! Works well, with no extra PN module installed. I recommend it, speacially for blogspot read, which use atom feed.
  • The issue with RSSfeed is noted in an article on http://www.mtrad.com (which includes a patch.) The problem is also fixed in PN 760rc4.

I just recently became aware of a problem with the RSSdisplay blocks on PN 760 and am discussing with MarkWest. This problem affects more than just RSSdisplay. But I have a fix that I will send folks (when requested via email) and will get an updated RSSdisplay out as soon as possible.

And I'm looking at the other problem that was just reported in another topic. icon_smile

There are always plenty of scripts out there that do similar stuff. If one works for you, that's great! But I'd like to suggest that if you take the time to work with me, I'll do whatever possible to make my scripts do what folks need/want. So, instead of a bunch of different scripts that all do just part of what you want, we'll get a script that does everything. (And I know most other PN 3rd party dev's would do so also.)
  • does anyone have a copy of this feed reader they can share, mtrad seems to be down...

down as in.. a year longer than expected -type down...
