i'm looking for a module to serve as a club organizer that can do the following to manage different groups within a club:
- associate different members as part of a specific group with
- scheduling of recurring meetings at a certain location and
- private forum posts or email list for that group and
- the capacity to invite members into the group and
- the ability to look up different groups by geographical area and see some basic info about them
anyone know of a module like this?

i'm looking for a module to serve as a club organizer that can do the following to manage different groups within a club:
I am not aware of a module but PostNuke, with the appropriate modules can achieve everything you ask.
First, you must familiarize yourself with the PostNuke permissions schema. Do this before you do anything else! It'll seem overwhelming at first...but there is a logic to it and I'm sure you'll get the hang of it much quicker than you'll initially expect. Of course, if you get stuck on a specific problem and can define it, there are many people in these forums who will help. :)
Your schedule can be handled with the module PostCalendar.
Your private forums can be handled by PNphpBB2. I believe the other foum modules will work for you as well but I cannot speak from experience in that regard.
Try mHallbrooks's pnGroups for allowing members to join groups.
I'm not sure this is the best way to go but you may try pnAddressBook for your roster.
I did something similar to what you want to do for a Club I'm in and it was extremely well used and popular for the first year.
Unfortunately, as with most clubs, each year brings in new leaders with their own abilities and style. In our case, when a new administration came in that was less comfortable with technology, the portal, and all the work that went into it, went down the tubes!
If your club is like mine, unless all committee (or group) heads participate, you're going to be in for a very frustrating ride.
In one term we devolved from a very smooth and effective communications system to a new system of emails with 100 addressees and 9MB plus attachments! In one year, we went from high traffic as members used the website to obsolete.
So my advice is that, if you're not comfortable that current and future leadership can and will support the project, go with something less ambitious and forget about dynamic features which require participation.

thanks - i figured i could do most of what i wanted with the various modules, but i want to have the ability for people around the world to add in their club, add in members, and then go from there.
if i use all the existing mods i'll have to do some work each time a new group wants to add a section of the club.
thanks for your feedback though!
