hmm, prehaps i should have been somewhat clearer in my request, I am not looking for an rss module, what i am looking for is a module that will allow me as admin to create an extra newswire for users / visitors to post to, ie, createing more than one news tread for submit_news to post to (which can include a whole new set of topics) and have its own editorial permissions -

Would it be possible to adapt submit_news to have a extra channel to post to? or even have a fork and thave two identical submit_news mods except with different names, postnuke could have more than one publishing newswire, surely? -

I am not sure exactly what you are trying to achieve, but if you are trying to get different topics for different people to post to, that can all be done with the existing standard install. you just have to set up groups and the proper permissions for each.
example - group 1
can submit to news1 or news2 but not news3 or news4
group 2
can submit to news3 or news4 but not news1 or news2

Yes, but if i assigned a topic as 'newswire' that topic would compile with all the other topics within the center block as it is all loaded to the same database table _stories, plus i cannot have have topics within a topic. I want to keep the main postnuke news for my admin features but have a open publishing newswire on the right side of my site, hence the need for a whole new news module
------submit news (registereduserpublishing)---topics---(approval)----publish in center block
Postnuke ---.
------submit news (openpublishing)---topics--(no approval)----publish in right block
I would also like certain editors to be able to edit/detele openpublishing but not registered user publishing

Oops! I reread your request and realized my suggestion of MyHeadlines was not appropriate. Sorry 'bout that.
